Destroying Strongholds

I think prayer is our long-range weapon. Through prayer, we can decimate the enemy's devises from a long way off. It's a matter of seeing what's ahead and precision guiding our prayers accordingly. We need to be able to be precise at directing the supreme power of prayer and adept at bringing its weight down upon the enemy's hideouts.

Who Can be "Special Forces?"

I know I've said it already, but we are NOT talking about "only the elite" when we talk about Christian Special Forces. This might be tough to understand. I realize that this illustration does seem to be setting an amazingly high bar for people to reach. That is not what I intend to do. We have to be willing to be broken in heart, humble and compassionate in order to receive that spirit of gentleness with people. Unless we can treat people in the way in which Jesus treats them, He can't use us to help them - no matter how much we know or how much "training" we've had.

The Precious from the Vile (Part 2)

Why has so much been made of the fact that we, as humans, have a “free will?” I don't think God takes any pleasure in being “chosen” by mortals, as if there were any other options. Jesus reminds His disciples, “You did not choose me, but I chose you” (see John 15:16). It is God who does the choosing, my friends, not us. First John chapter 4 tells us that we don’t love God first, He loves us first (see verse 10). Any love we “choose” to show God is merely a response to the love He has already lavished upon us. It is not the ability to choose that makes humans unique in God’s creation and it is not the ability to choose that makes mankind free.

About me - About this blog

I believe that my eyes were suddenly opened by the Lord to the parallels and connections between military Special Operations and many passages, principles and lessons from God's Word. Lately this paradigm seems to have taken over my study of Scripture. I'm using stories or illustrations from military Special Operations as a parable, helping to teach and reveal the call that I sense the Holy Spirit making to the Church. What I expect is that as I put this parable together in various blog articles, people will be able to relate. Maybe you wouldn't have expressed it in these terms, but you'll recognize the things written here as the Holy Spirit's work in your own life.

The Precious from the Vile (Part 1)

Are you willing and able to remove the precious from the vile? Can you take something productive out of failure? Can you acquire some new skill or knowledge from something painful or distressful? Can you grab onto Heaven in the midst of hell-on-earth?
